Misfits Format: Audio CD Rock Editorial Review
**** The reception of "Famous Monsters," the latest album from the Misfits, showcases a blend of nostalgia and critical listening experiences among fans. For many, this record is seen as one of the band’s finest recent works, reflecting a commitment to high-quality physical presentation with its includes like stickers and a numbered edition printed on silent vinyl. However, opinions about the audio quality are mixed. While some listeners appreciate the tangible elements and the overall aesthetic of the album, they find the mastering efforts somewhat lackluster, leading to a sound that might be perceived as basic or slightly clipped in places. Some long-time fans have expressed disappointment, wishing for a more ambitious sonic experience—suggesting that the content could benefit from better distribution over more sides of vinyl for improved sound depth. Despite this, others find joy in the catchy melodies and sing-along choruses that are a hallmark of the Misfits’ style, emphasizing that a more polished production could appeal to a wider audience. The album seems to have resonated well with long-time followers of the band, particularly those who enjoy the “horror punk” aesthetic, and it has the potential to intrigue new listeners despite the uneven reception regarding its sound production. Ultimately, the recommendation leans towards opting for the more affordable black unnumbered version for those looking to experience the band without overextending their budget. **
