It can be mounted horizontally with the electrical leads facing up, otherwise, water may get into the horn. There are no drain holes. It does not come with a mounting bracket or any wiring directions, and some reviewers found the instructions to be unusable. The mounting screws are 4 and 1/2" apart. Despite some quality control issues in shipping and some installation challenges, most customers were happy with this horn as a replacement for their boat's rusted out horn. The stainless steel grille was praised for its quality. However, one customer experienced a failure after only a few months of use, and another customer was only satisfied with the expectation of two years of use from this model.
